What you can commission
Custom orders fall into a few categories based on complexity:
Simple silhouette cutters
A single outline shape based on a logo, illustration, or hand-drawn sketch. These are the most common custom orders. A company logo, a pet's silhouette traced from a photo, a custom monogram for a wedding, or a specific shape for a themed party. Turnaround is 3-5 business days from approval of the sketch.
Detail-embossed cutters
A cutter that not only cuts the outline but also presses detail lines into the dough surface (facial features on an animal cutter, text on a plaque shape, decorative patterns). These require more CAD time because the embossing depth and line width need to be calibrated for clean release from the dough. Turnaround is 5-7 business days.
Multi-piece sets
A set of cutters designed to work together. Alphabet sets with custom fonts, a themed collection for a bakery, or a seasonal set for a cookie decorating business. These are quoted per design and turnaround depends on the number of pieces. Typical range is 1-3 weeks.
How the process works
- Send us your reference. Email a sketch, photo, vector file, or even a rough description of what you want. The more detail the better, but we can work from very rough starting points. Vector files (SVG, AI, EPS) are ideal because they give us clean outlines to work from. JPEG and PNG photos work fine for silhouettes.
- We send a quote and timeline. Within 24 hours of receiving your reference, we'll reply with a price, estimated turnaround, and any questions about the design. Simple silhouettes start at $25 for a single cutter. Detail-embossed cutters start at $40. Sets are quoted individually.
- Design and approval. We model the cutter in Fusion 360 and send you a rendered preview showing the shape, cutting edge, handle placement, and overall dimensions. You approve or request changes. One round of revisions is included in the price.
- Test print and bake test. We print the cutter on our Bambu A1 and test it on rolled dough. If the dough doesn't release cleanly, or if the cutting edge needs adjustment, we revise and retest. You don't pay extra for this; it's part of the process.
- Delivery. You receive the final STL and 3MF files by email, along with recommended print settings specific to your cutter. The files are yours for personal use. Commercial licensing (for bakeries or resale) is available as an add-on.
Pricing guide
- Simple silhouette cutter: $25-$35 per design
- Detail-embossed cutter: $40-$60 per design
- Multi-piece set (6-12 cutters): $120-$250 for the set
- Full alphabet set (26 letters): $200-$300 depending on font complexity
- Commercial license add-on: +$50 per design (allows selling printed cutters or using in a commercial bakery)
Payment is half upfront, half on delivery. We accept PayPal and direct transfer. All prices include one round of design revisions and the bake test.
